Did You See That? Oilers' Dubnyk leaves game đại hiệp truyện after collision
Edmonton Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk had some success holding off the Chicago Blackhawks' high-octane offence on Sunday night, but what he couldn't stop forced him out of the game đại hiệp truyện.
With his team up 4-2 midway through the second period, Chicago's Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews broke in for a short-handed opportunity. Hossa took a pass from Toews and couldn't stop his momentum, barrelling over Dubnyk and injuring his own shoulder in the process.
In the same sequence, Oilers teammate Teemu Hartikainen appeared to lose control as he was trying to prevent Hossa from scoring, and levelled Dubnyk's head accidentally which whipped the netminder's neck back.
Dubnyk, 26, was left sprawled out on the ice, face-down, in obvious pain and did not move for quite some time until trainers attended to him. The Regina, Sask. native left the game đại hiệp truyện and did not return.
Edmonton coach Ralph Krueger, though, shed some positive light on the nature of the injury.
"It was a safety call [to take him out of the game đại hiệp truyện]," he told the Oilers' official website. "We don't see anything but a situation where there was a lot of risk in putting him back in there because it's an injury with that kind of impact that needs some time overnight before we assess him in the morning. We don't see anything serious yet."
Dubnyk made 11 saves on 13 shots before leaving.
Here's how it unfolded:
Despite losing its goalie though, Edmonton had reasons to cheer as it busted out of its offensive slump in its 6-5 win over Chicago, including thisdisplay of speed and agility by Sam Gagner.
